Just noticed a number of nofollow links from the signature in my webmaster tools dashboard

all forum links in sig here are no follow, or at least they used to be

Until last year they were dofollow (copy&paste in browser-search eg bonustreak), I think it changed when the new owner took over, nothing wrong with that.

That's unfortunately necessairy. If you give do-follow links you get a lot of people just posting crap to spam their links.

You are Correct

I just wanted to inform others that the these nofollow backlinks are not helpful when added to the mix of external website links.

Yes, we made that change on updating the site, forums should never have follow links, just invites garbage.

Agreed. I'd say the gpwa is a perfect example what kind of low quality posts it attracts.

People asking rhetorical questions and never following yup with the answer, people asking for techniques used in the early 2000s, people opening up irrelevant threads (basically anything but affiliating).

At the end of the day they get a link, that Google has devalued years and years ago.

Makes no difference to me, your back links profile do need a few no-follow links, if that is what you are worried about.
