That's a very inspirational story. It makes me want to work 10 times harder :)

It comes back to the question of whether one big site or many smalls ones for when you want to exit the industry.

Does anyone know why the new owners immediately stopped allowing new U.S. players?

Catena Media is a Malta based company.
I think they want avoid legal issues in accepting US players on their sites. Malta also is "the base" for a lot of gaming licenses (and licensors...).

And, just about everyone believed Allots, FLG et al were ALL owned by seperate entities.
My point is... who's the actual owner(s) of Catena Media, not the puppets but the BIG Kahunas (the puppeters)?
  • US$7mil or there abouts for RightCasino
  • US$17.1mil for AskGamblers
  • I'm sure there was someone else?
Catena Media have deep, very deep pockets. I know a few people who've been contacted. Sorry can't/won't disclose whom. They're also punching a lot of moola in media buys and contacting affiliates for these.

Be interesting to see where all this leads or funnels to...

WOW!!!

This is just shocking.

So much money paid to buy a website?

It means that they must be making a lot of money from that website, right?

Regards.

I agree. In such a volatile world as online, the only way those acquisitions will pay off, (specifically Rightcasino purchase), is if there is an operator behind. Just shows what a superb acquisition Wizzardofodds was for LCB.

P.S. Just read the numbers behind Rightcasino aquisition: they had 892K euro revenues (9 months) and 55% gross operating margin. That's worth somewhere in the area of 650k euro gross profit per year, meaning that Catana paid 10x early gross profit, which is crazy.

Btw, catena stock rose by 6% on the Askgamblers news.

That is crazy.. I know Askgamblers is a great site, I've often referred to it when needing to lookup quick information on a casino.. But that seems like in insane amount of money..

Dave always came across as a good bloke

Hard to believe an affiliate portal of only 18 months or so old, could fetch such an insane price.
The affiliate program he worked for, the casino went ass up - apprently someone was pilfering the casino player information.

18 month? seriously? askgamblers is a pretty old site and I cant say that it is just a simple affiliate portal....I would say...gambling community.
