The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), strongly supports a law called Bill 55, even though some people said it goes against European rules. They say this law, Article 56A of Malta's Gaming Act, is actually okay under European law because it defends gambling companies licensed in Malta from legal problems connected to their gambling activities, as long as those activities are allowed by their MGA license. But Germany's gambling authority disagrees, saying the law breaks a European rule from 2013 about legal judgments between countries. The European Commission will now look at this law more closely to make sure it follows EU rules.
