I've just had 3 blogs taken down by google in the last week - anyone else having this problem? One of them was taken down a month ago I asked for a review, then they put it back up.

Sorry to hear this chaps... but investing in anything 'other' than your own domain, runs the risk of losing it at the drop-of-a-hat.

I would have to agreed with everyone here, while they are great for getting some backlinks.. That is really all they are worth. Some backlinks may be more worth it then others, as some with provide some SEO value while others some click through traffic.. Your main site should be where the main focus is, always.

My horse picks site was just that, horse picks with 2 or 3 banners, 180-250 hit on the weekends - the real problem it it's a robot that does the 'banning' and then you have to wait for it to be look at by a ' Guman'

I couldn't agree more. I spent a lot of time and money building a facebook page, until one day facebook unpublished it. Never again!!

I'm going to assume you meant 180-250 unique visits (on the weekends), and not 'hits', which is a totally different measurement of traffic. Either way, without offending you, the real problem here seems... While your aware an automated process 'could' take this page down at any point, you threw caution to the wind and did it anyway.

Why its been taken down is anyone's guess. But it's down and your now without that page. I wouldn't be counting on a human checker to reinstate it!

As RyanWeb suggested, these pages can serve a purpose. I've used them to get a few links back to new sites I've established. But only on the pretext of a short lived result. And as LandofOz interjected, his facebook page also ran foul of a similar ditch-job.

While some affiliates manage to fly under the radar, others don't. I agree it's not fair but in this game we ALL take calculated risks. Some pay off, others don't. My suggestion, use Goolge et al for what it is, don't fool yourself into a false sense of security.

I concur with RyanWeb... "Your main site should be where the main focus is, always."

Interesting as Horse Racing has a long protected history in legislation and online gambling on it is legal in most countries - even places like United States, Hong Kong and Singapore that are anti SPORTS gambling.

Major daily newspapers dedicate sections to horse racing and the betting odds /lines ...
IT would be interesting to learn WHY it was taken offline - as this is a special area that is legal nearly everywhere.

I had a no deposit bonus blog taken down - I asked for a review and I got this message back
"Hello, We have received your appeal regarding your blog http://blognodepositbonus.blogspot.com/. Upon further review we have determined that your blog was mistakenly marked as a TOS violator by our automated system and, as such, we have reinstated your blog. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused in the meantime and thank you for your patience as we completed our review process. Thank you for understanding. Sincerely, The Blogger Team"

and it was put back online and in turn I think it was.is google's automated system - but 2 days ago, along with the horse betting site it was taken down again

and it was 180-250 real hits to horse racing picks blog

This is the big downside of not owning your site. Services like blogger, youtube and facebook can help get you traffic but they can disappear at any time.
Why do you ean by "disappear"? I din`t understand how it can disappear.. You mean from the SERP? or you mean the whole channel can be removed?

Agreed it seems very odd indeed. The only thing which could affect it, would be links/banners to say casinos or sportsbooks. I've tried to pull hxxp://blognodepositbonus.blogspot.com/ up in the wayback machine but there's on record of it. Kinda odd given the OP stated its been up there 5 years.

So can't even see what was on the channel or if anything in fact may be the cause for its removal.

to clarify : hxxp://blognodepositbonus.blogspot.com/ has not been up for 5 years , my horse racing tips site has been hxxp://horseracingpicksandtips.blogspot.com/

hxxp://blognodepositbonus.blogspot.com/ was taken down then then reviewed, put back up, then removed again

Are there any advantages what so ever with using them instead of just having your own domain and site?

Just to gain a few backlinks from an SEO perspective.. Its a more disposable site (less effort).. So you will be getting a link from a site outside your network of sites...

Other then that, no.. If your going to put a considerable amount of effort or time in.. There is no benefit of using them instead of your own domain/site.
