This just got in from Sunset Casino, one of their licensees.

Dear Guest,

We are slightly sorry to report that after 18 years, SUNSET CASINO will soon be closing its virtual doors. However, we wish to issue a royal invitation to have you meet us at JACKPOT PALACE in the future for even more wonderful games and surprises!

The gaming software provider that we relied on for many years (IGT, formerly known as Boss Media, Spielo and G-TECH) stopped providing us with new games and software updates and eventually decided to cease its activities as a software provider altogether. SUNSET CASINO is among several other gaming venues that relied on this supplier and is now forced to close its doors at the end of this month.

Please note that you can deposit money until November 30, 2015 and withdraw money until December 15, 2015.

Is this software provider shutting down altogether indeed? If so, I wonder what their biggest licensee Casino Club will be up to.

In all honesty, the Boss Media software was pretty crap - I don't think many people are going to miss it.
I just wish someone would bring back Grand Virtual software - I did shed a tear when that became extinct :(

Yes, the software itself is pre-historic. However, it offered excellent BlackJack and Roulette, which is what the success of Casino Club is based on. Gold Club Casino and Bwin used to be their most recent other bigger licensees but Bwin have been using another platform for a while and Gold Club does not play a role anymore. BJ Heaven as well as Casino.net also left them or shut down business.

If Spielo/ BM closes I figure there simply were no customers left and the competition was too strong. Their cheating scandals also did not do them well.

That Spielo game cheating, really could have been handled a lot better. Trying to deny accountability and trying to manufacture BS, when clearly the game was dodgy, didn't do them any favours.

As far as Boss Media, they were pretty damn awesome when I started out in 2000. They made a couple of attempts to push out some 5 reel video slots. However it was their tables games, which were highly developed and cleanly designed, which Boss media were well like for. Back then it was Blackjack, Roulette and Video Poker which brought in most of the casino revenue.

While Gambling Federation had released some 5 reel video slots, it wasn't until MGS released Thunderstruck I, followed by Spring Break and Ladies Nite, that Aussie style pokies (aka video slots) started to take momentum.

These days it's video slots which bring in most of the cash.

So I'm guessing Boss Media missed that boat and are now closing up shop.

They had multiplayer blackjack tables back when most providers were only
offering single player blackjack. Those tables were quite popular back in the day.
They just failed to evolve over the years, and introduce appealing video slot games.

Complacency & growing fat, are two other components which will imo, kill any business, especially in our industry.

Take Global Player Casino.
These guys were rockin it when it came to Video Poker and Blackjack. Not uncommon to get winnings paid to PayPal (way back before the UIGEA) in 5 min or less - totally unheard of back then. If they'd have branched out to other markets, instead of thinking the USA market would continue to sustain business, and also introduced a decent variety of video slots, I dare say they'd still be around today.

Oh wow - I'd almost forgotten about those guys.
Yes, you are totally right - that was a great fun casino to play. And they were one of my early successes as an affiliate too: Earned over $500 from them in December 2006, which at the time was my second best ever from a single casino. Went on to have a few more good months like that until they closed down at the end of 2007 :(

The other software was Cryptologic, of course. They had multi-player tables too, which I really loved. But after they pulled out of the USA in 2006, their popularity went rapidly downhill and they eventually dumped the multiple seat tables :(

Agree KK Cryptologic was awesome too :)

Thinking about it, when the USA market was in full swing, there was some very good software available.
Sadly the UIGEA really did a number on the industry in that regard.

Probably wont interest newer webmasters but those of us who are old timers, might be nice to start a new thread, with a trip down memory lane ;)

Gold Club Casino are leaving BM on November 30th as well so this closure seems to be happening.

BM is pure nostalgia. RIP.

Casino Club remains, the other ones are shut down or changed software providers. Apparently Casino Club bought the software altogether... unless they are planning to leave at a later stage.
