Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to ask and see what your best converting and most profitable US casino software provider is.

I would say what my favorite is… but I admit I’m biased ;0

I voted Rival, actually. It is currently my most converted and profitable software.

If I looked at 'per player' profitability, it would be drastically different though. On the Microgaming platform I have several high value players and medium value players where I have all medium-low players at Rival. I just happen to have MORE players at Rival at the moment :)

OddsOn has been VegasTechnology for some time now - and they absolutely convert the best for us. Followed by Rival and finally RTG

Vegas tech
Rival
RTG

Like everyone else, the best players remain with Micro. That may however be due to the fact that the remaining players are good, loyal, longterm players and the smaller new players are not getting in. Perhaps Rival will catch up over the years.

Vegas tech is retaining better players very well too and well on its way to catching up to Micro on that level.

It shows, too, that branding is still very important. Younger casinos have trouble attracting high value players because the trust is not built yet - and branding builds trust.

Before the ban on online gambling advertising on google etc, casinos used to do a lot of branding.

When that disappeared, they started concentrating mostly on immediate gratification - delivery of actual players and branding has fallen by the wayside.

Big mistake, IMO.

What do you think Rival could do to mimic the success of Microgaming/Vegas tech?

I see you mentioned Branding, what channels do you think it would be best for Rival Casinos to use for that purpose?

Sorry if I'm asking questions that might be too specific... but I'm interested in knowing.

Kind Regards,

Well, lately I have noticed an improvement of single deposit amounts at Rival, which is a big step forward. Not quite where I'd like to see it, but much better and a nice step forward.

Branding - it occurs naturally with age and so the older properties have the advantage. Everyone in advertising knows that repeated exposure breeds trust. That's why Heinz Ketchup for instance consistently outsells the store brand in supermarkets in the States - it's a name everyone has heard and seen and the storebrand is an unknown. They are actually the same product, but the Heinz label sells better. And it doesn't even have a memorable name.

Online casinos used to have lots of choices for branding, PPCs, Yahoo banners and whatnot. They also used to pay for flat rate exposure on all kinds of websites with high traffic.

That has fallen by the wayside, few pay for flat rate exposure anymore. If it doesn't guarantee a bang for the buck like aff % contracts or CPA , it's not done anymore.

IMO that is a mistake for new properties who need to gain equal exposure to proven ones.

Personally, I list programs (after filtering for aff and player friendliness) by how they perform for me financially. That means the new guy soon sinks to the bottom since they cannot catch up performance wise.

Unfortunately that means they will have an even harder time catching up.

I am aware of how that is unfair in a way, but it's business and we are all here to make money.

The only way a new place gets branded without paying for it is by striving to be across as many affiliate sites as possible so the number of sites ends up equal in traffic to a big one. That's the way to do it for free, and that is the current business model in this industry.

That really is necessary IMO, I am not knocking it. But it still is not branding that goes faster than other properties, everyone does it, so it is still dependent on age.

The large, old programs usually have a marketing arm seperate (or appearing to be seperate :p) from the aff program. This is given a budget which can be used for plain, flat rate branding.

Of course no one is giving up their secret sauce for accelerated branding...

Younger casinos have trouble attracting high value players because the trust is not built yet - and branding builds trust.

Sure branding plays a role with attracting high rollers, but I think the main reason why Rival doesn't attract many high rollers is because the maximum players can deposit per day is $2K. I think that can be raised after your established as a vip player, but I doubt many high roller players will want to jump through so many hoops.

Players will jump through hoops to get their money, but not to give it away. They will say the hell with you rival, I will go find a casino that wants my action. So high roller players are annoyed before they even play the first hand. I thought the goal was to give players a reason to come in big, not give them reasons to find another place to play.

Thank you for those comments.

I will look into how we can increase this without making players jump through hoops.
