As I have been working myself to the bone lately, mostly on my full-time job.. I wonder:

How many hours do you work in a day?

The breakdown for me lately has been this:

Affiliate Work: 4 hours per day

Real Job: 10 hours per day

This has been a busy year already and there are many days when it has been 20-23 hours in a day :( Busy, busy, busy, busy..... It's time to figure some stuff out here and lose a few hours out of my day :)

I work when my wife is at work, so with her travelling time I'd say around 9-10 hours a day.

Most of this time is taken up by a big mainstream (ie: not gambling) project though.

Since i moved over to doing this fulltime, its sporadic at times. Try to work while kids are at school. Then put in some hours in the evening. Problem is i bring the PC with me to the "family space" and end up doing some poor multitasking. so in a normal week, 20 hours of honest hard work. 30 hours of useless dinking around.

I've been putting in around 10-12 hours a day lately. I'm trying to get as much possible done now, while the weather is still cold, because I know I'll want to spend more time outside soon.

Well, if 'dinking around' is part of this... I will have to put that down for 4 hours and take away from what was previously considered productive time :)

12 hrs a day - 4 of these are likely "dinking". But "dinking around" is good too, I get some interesting ideas that way.

I'm usually in the office between 9-10 hours a day. When I'm really busy I end up being here for an extra 3-4 hours after that.. Then I go home get straight on the laptop and keep working on other things..

So I guess from about half hour after I'm awake to when I go to bed I'm working on something.

I like that expression - though for me it's more like dicking around! :p

I also struggle with working from home - wife & 2 young kids often demanding attention, distractions like wanting to play casinos or poker, trying out new slots or software, reading & posting on forums, etc...
So for me it's probably more like 10 hours of "real work" and 40 hours of dicking around - I know I'm spending at least 50 hours per week in front of a PC.
At least I do get out sometimes; swim twice and play golf twice most weeks... 8)

Glad to hear I'm on the right track as a new affiliate. I too spend upwards of 10 hours at my PC and much if it is dickin around, not accomplishing much but learning at the same time.

Instead of dickin around, lets call it "Research"... lol that sounds more productive. This can include dickin around on forums, chatting on IM, staring blankly at your site(s), etc.. ;D

I spend about 40 - 50 hours a week.

20 hours of research.

Mainly updating content, replying to emails and 'pestering' affiliate managers with queries.

Dinking around:

1)Refreshing stats on the programs that provide periodic updates throughout the day. Excuse being to check how traffic is converting, but really checking the ebb and tide of gamblers fortunes, most of the time it seems they lose their deposits. Unless of course they win big and then i refresh more frequently to see if they are nuts enough to give it back. Thankfully most are(eventually)

2)Harassing AMs at programs that have daily updates about how everyone else has realtime updates.

3)Harassing AMs about how all other programs pay better than theirs, and have less deductions.

4)Spying on other affiliates to see if they have come up with a miracle to attract more traffic with little effort.

5)Doing resarch to prove to myself that my latest brainstorm will cost a lot more than it will earn. Then trying to convince myself the research is valid.

6)Reading affiliate forums about how hopeless it is to find a trustworthy program to do US traffic, while at the same time reading that people involved with US processing are going to Jail for looong time.

7)Refreshing Bank/neteller/moneybookers accounts to see if anyone paid before they were supposed to.

8)Harassing AMs about payments always being late, or screwed in currency exchange, or fees, or anything related. Pointing out that all other programs pay on the first of every month.

Naturally, my type of Dinking makes me absolutely no money, new depositors, or even friends. Yet somehow the pattern will repeat itself tomorrow.

Toponline ~ There was simply too much funny stuff in your post to quote :) Good stuff.

I think we all end up doing quite a bit of unproductive stuff. I have all sorts of code on my hard drive that was paid for and developed and not 'in play' yet. Crazy, I know. Time is so tough.

It varies for me, about 5-8 hrs/day depending on workload. Since spring has arrived (I think) it has whittled down to 4-6 hrs on a long day and I have been only checking email on weekends. I have really backed off the time over the past 6 months kind of semi-retired I reckon. I used to put in 12-15 a day 7 days a week and when I was still working a public job 20 a day (man I don't miss that crapola).
