Implications of ICANN oversight moving to "global multistakeholder community"

I'm not looking to start a flame war or heated political debate. It looks like the cat is out of the bag and this is going to happen, so what are the potential implications if any could this have on us as affiliates or the gambling sector in general?

It's a good thing. Less control of the internet by governments the better it is for us all.
