This doesn't mean the "hacker" was an affiliate here.

All this means is the "hacker" has used/targeted "Tropica" keywords by making these "keyworded-file-names". This sort of thing has also happened to 32Red and many other casinos too.

It's much the same strategy as affiliates use to target keywords or search phrases. EG - usa casino bonuses. The file name maybe: yourdomain/playcasinosonline/usa-casino-bonuses.html

I don't understand how we or the hacker would benefit from using our name in the urls? Can anyone explain?

In my opinion, this could harm / blacklist our domains should Google decide to penalise these hacked pages and their urls. Is this a correct assumption?

As they are going for all these long tails it's probably a decent amount of hits to bait & switch traffic to there own sites. They use a lot of rich snippets stars in the hacks so they also tend to stand out quite well. Depending on where your searching from as an example if your searched for "unibet live casino bonus" they get listed in the first three positions on G even above Unibets own search results!

These pages are pure evil. Who ever is behind this; I do bleieve they are directly connect to the industry, are employing some serious Blackhat alog manipulations. As CasinoNewbie stated, these specific Unibet pages are even out-ranking Unibet. That's some serious firepower.

What can be done, you ask. Not much, if anything. What shoudl have happened... Any casino program who had this hacker on their paybooks, should have handed all this information over to InterPol. But like always; unlike sharing/selling/trading affiliate email addresses, every affiliate program to date has raised the confidentially clause...

Pity the same gusto was not applied to affiliate email addresses and personal data...just sayin

To simplify.

They target thousands of keywords. Some of them happen to be your brand names and variations of your brand name (and every other casino on the planet for that matter). On the thousands of sites they hack in an automated fashion they insert a keyword page, in this case it's your brand but it could just as well be "online casinos with blue ears". Some of the sites with those pages ride a short term boost because of the domain authority of the hacked site (over simplified, I know). On the actual page they promote a bunch of brands, otherwise know as programs that don't give a sh*t as long as the players keep coming.

Make sense now?

We can only hope one day Dieter that Google will hand out penalties to anyone that is directly involved with the hackers. Many of these big casinos that are now being plastered into these urls hand over to Google hundreds of thousands (or more) in payments each month for ads, only to out placed by these hackers in organic search results relative to their own casino. LOL.....

Yer right on ! they are herding traffic away from many casino sites & real affiliates for BASIC key search terms, what amazes me is all these big companies like bet365 etc, that are spending shit loads of money with Google advertising are not having a special chat with there account manager to get this sorted out...
