So - I was thinking that I need to get the motivation to begin anew on a website that I have owned for a very long time. I bet there are others in my boat as well.

How about we have some sort of contest... or some sort of thread, brag board, [obviously I am brainstorming very poorly here] or somewhere/place we can get a group of us... work on sites and feed each other with motivation. Any thoughts on this? I'm willing to put a section together at AGD or some sort of other concept (maybe Facebook like section here?) to feed into this.

I have, unfortunately, not done enough with the site SlotsOnFire.com. I would LOVE to revamp it and to then start putting tons of content up. But my motivation lasts short term and then I fail. I could easily start there (would probably be my best option). Or I could create something from scratch.

Anyway... brainstorming isn't fully functional - I need help :)

Thoughts??

I am in your boat :)

I am finding that I have to really force myself to work sometimes... I usually find competitive competition motivates me, so does helping others... But I could use a bit of something, just not 100% sure what.

I will be starting a new site over myself, getting the domain moved to a better host as we speak.. A site that lists all UK gambling commission licensed sites, with a focus on slots.. Have a good list of casinos picked from 'CM approved casinos' and cross referenced them w/ the affiliate programs here.

As for a contest, could be helpful :)

The only thing that comes to mind for me is some super detailed teamwork. Where we each pick a subject, gather all the technical details (works well for slots) then share the information, while putting it together uniquely so its not just copied content. Could also have someone work on images or something (I take all my own screenshots of games after a spin or two, so all my images are unique.. Would be easy to take 2 or more at a time.. )

^ Just some quick ideas.. idk how well that would really go over as the hardest part is the actually putting the information together in a unique way lol..

Other ideas include, picking a generic key money phrase and seeing who can rank highest.. I'm also a big fan of article exchanges..

Sorry man - I've been totally de-motivated for about the last 8 weeks! The school holidays have been a nightmare work-wise: as I am the "house husband" while the misses goes to a "proper job", my time at the computer has been vastly reduced and my enthusiasm went out of the window...
But they go back to school tomorrow! :D
It will take a little while to get back to full steam - but I hope to be doing a LOT more work over the coming couple of months.

If I can think of any motivating challenges, I will come back & post them here.

I think I made a decision. I'm going to use either Amazon AWS or get a dedicated Windows server. Reason being - I think I am going to develop from scratch with ASP.net using some Java for the ajax loading. So - a different approach than I have ever gone in this business, but since I know asp.net very well - it just makes sense.

Anyone else out there using asp.net for their website instead of the typical Linux server?

That surprises me. Amazon seems like they would take care of those types quickly. Maybe I will roll my own server for a while first. I can do that, just didn't want the headache of security breaches.
