New reform of the lottery act in Finland

Dear Partner,

We would like to inform you about the upcoming changes within the Finnish market with the new Finnish Lottery Act.

The New lottery Act is set to enter into force on 01.01.2022, and Betsson Group would like to ensure compliance with the new provisions under the Act. Our policy is not to pay any commission for any new traffic (from the 1 January 2022 onwards) deriving from Finland which is generated as a result of targeting Finnish players and which is in breach of the Finnish Lotteries Act. We ask for all Betsson Group Brand materials to be removed from your Finnish language sites and ensure that the Finnish Language links and banners stop working by 31.12.2021 in order to be compliant with the law.

Betsson Group Affiliates may also suspend your account if you are not compliant with law. Betsson Group would like to point out that it shall not bear any responsibility should you not be compliant with the law, and that you may be the subject of, and responsible for, fines or other consequences if you continue targeting Finnish players in Finnish language with your marketing after the new legislation has entered into force.

Our policy is not to pay any commission for any new traffic (from the 1 January 2022 onwards) deriving from Finland which is generated as a result of promotion on channels which actively target the Finnish market and are not compliant with the New Lottery Act.

Comparing Betsson to LeoVegas who also leave Finland, at least LeoVegas do not steal future Finnish players / commissions like Betsson is doing.

I don't think it says anywhere they are "leaving" Finland or "stealing" players? It's a term to prevent affiliates from actively targeting Finish players using Finish language etc? Or am I missing something here? Though I do suspect that down the road, this is what the new Finish legislation will come to, or operators using it as an excuse to steal your players.

Funny also that they communicate this during the Christmas holidays.
