TAB and the state-run Lotto are the only entities authorized to offer online gambling products in New Zealand.

When the local casino operator SKYCITY Entertainment introduced the plan of launching online gambling in the country, the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs revealed their plan for banning the usage of credit cards for online gambling.

New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs revealed their plan for banning the usage of credit cards for online gambling.

Plan to ban isn't correct. That means it's earmarked to go ahead.

Instead: "the gambling watchdog to consider banning gambling with credit cards.

This is certainly not 'set in stone', reiterating it's being "considered"... meaning: to spend time thinking about a possibility or making a decision. Add in the fact the wheels of government move at a snail's pace, and all the red-tape that goes along with it. And, I also think they'd need to consult with the Reserve Bank of NZ. A lot of boffins and politicians will be thrown into this decision.

Even if it gets approval, I can't see it becoming law for a few years.

Besides, there are other methods to deposit these days. If people want to gamble online, then they'll use other funding options.

Nice click-bait btw :D

Gambling with credit cards isn't good for the industry in the long term anyway.

In New Zealand almost no credit cards are used to deposit money into an online casino account, since other deposit methods are more secure and anonymous for gambling.
