I have just received an email from Sloto, don't really understand this move, the more risky USA is ok for Rival, but not Canadians?
What else can come next? ???

This appears to be the case and I do not understand it one bit :( They are allowing Canadians to withdraw their money over the next 2 months. If they do not withdrawal, they will withdrawal it for them after that point.

It's a real bummer and a bad move for Rival, IMO.

Sounds like a corporate move. Do they have marketing offices in Canada or something? If so, it's likely they aren't doing business in Canada to avoid paying a lot of taxes? I'm kind of guessing, here....but I assume It's not likely an issue with legalities at all.

That sheds a lot of light. Thanks for the post. Seems to be a lot of that stuff going on these days. Sure made us do a double check of our corporate structure. I've learned things recently like "signing your name" properly on emails.

For instance if you sign

Sincerely,
My Name

In a court, they might just say, look "Mr. My Name" was actually operating on his behalf, not that of the company. Technically we should all be signing our names with proper titles if we are incorporated or run an LLC. This helps to show the court that we are operating under the capacity of our business not as "lone-rangers" which can then lead to your incorporation articles being a sham. You should sign like this:

Sincerely,
Affiliate Name,
Vice President, SVC Company, LLC (or whatever)

Just like the big boys. Don't feel shy about putting President under your name because your company is small. You better identify yourself as an agent for your company or you could find yourself being sued instead of the company. Maybe not likely, but when it comes to your home & family, better safe than sorry.

Haha, this reminds me when my boyfriend and I started our business we worked from home, went to meetings from home and such.
And most of the people thought we have a shiny office palace with 10 secretaries and such lol.

But we always signed our emails, letters, invoices in a very corporate way (I am Creative director, lol, bf is Head of development :p) and we operated from a 45 square meter apartment with our pets hahaha :)

I know for sure that you don't have to be a millionaire and have an office in a palace in order to be professional in your job. And after a while we told the clients that our work only needs a laptop and internet, so why go for the expensive office that should be paid by the clients at the end of the day. :)

// sorry for the derailing

Rivals pulling out of Canada absolutely makes no sense? Unless it is the pending lawsuit as Nandakishore pointed out.

IMO Canada is a relatively untapped market. We spend more per capital towards gambling of all sorts than most countries.

I believe its because Rival uses the services of Canadian companies. These companies are probably wary of providing services to a gaming company which accepts Canadian players. A move to ensure that those Canadian companies don't fall foul of any unjust laws, and to ensure that the continue to provide services to Rival.

It actually makes jurisdictional sense.

You'll find that most gaming companies who use the services of companies from a particular country, do not take players from that country.

eg
Casino Rewards (Australia) = no Australian players.

Bunch of Playtech casinos and poker rooms (services from Philippines) = no Players from Philippines.

Not true.

I have been told that Rival has asked its operators to not speak publicly about this. And bizarrely it may have something to do with Rival remaining in the US market. Go figure...
