Hi Guys,

I am interested in purchasing an already existing site which is focused on poker and casino affiliate marketing. There is a lot of content/reviews on the site and I am curious if I could get some advice if there are some websites I can run the link through to make sure it isn't banned by google or anything like that.

I am after some general rules of practice to see the legitimacy of the site and its ranking. Is there an easy or recommended way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't buy a site without seeing proof of traffic let alone proof the site makes any income. One way to test is to see what keywords they could or should rank for and test yourself. If the seller doesn't want to share this information, perhaps they don't want you to know it has very low traffic.

You could use the Semrush tool. The free account will show if the site has traffic or not. That tool is not very accurate, but if the site is ranking for some decent keywords it should show up. You can also check alexa. Again not very accurate, but might tell you something. Same deal with similarweb.

As others have said those tools are useful but if I was purchasing a site, I wouldn't trust them 100% as they can be manipulated so I would ask them what they rank for and see for yourself with Google, along with seeing their analytics and earnings

I agree with others, you should definitely ask the seller to reveal all aff provisions and traffic amount. Also don´t forget to check link profile on Majestic, or any other tool and ask if the site is not penalised by Google, it can save you a lot of trouble.

Most SEO tools are useless.. just created for those that miss and live by PR, the only real way is to analyse content and pick out some keywords, though they may not be that obvious, smart webmasters can create high converting high valued players on small amounts of traffic with non popular keywords, which is better than the robots who all target free bonuses and free spins so really in this case CTR would be the best indicator anything over 2% is good and it would be a reasonable request, if visitors are clicking thorugh then you have a decent site that get's same valued traffic, from there you can build

A lot of good things are said here and i like to ad a few more.
the domain name is relevant and not to long and how old the domain is could be important also.
As for ranking this is a difficult job nowadays and needs constant atention.( rankings can drop in no time)
So what do they ask for the website and is it with the affiliate accounts?
