Spain's gambling regulator, The General Directorate of Gambling Regulation (DGOJ), announces a governmental initiative to prevent and mitigate problem gambling, allocating EUR 1.3 million to fund 26 research projects addressing gambling harm.

The move follows a Ministry of Consumer Affairs initiative, with a focus on disorders derived from gambling activity, and comes amidst a significant 55.1% increase in the Spanish gambling market's gross gaming revenues in Q2 2023, prompting the government to balance economic benefits with efforts to raise awareness and address adverse consequences.
