Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has handed official warnings and penalty fees to these eight licensed operators:

Flutter Entertainment's Betfair International,
Bethard Group,
Casinostugan,
GVC's ElectraWorks Limited,
bet365 operator Hillside (Sports) ENC,
Polar Limited,
The Stars Group Interactive and
Gaming Innovation Group's Zecure Gaming Limited

These operators have been found in breach of regulations for allowing wagering on sporting events featuring a majority of participants under the age of 18.

Yes, huge blow for e-sports I believe.
Hopefully the regulator will clear some of these issues up. Betfair has now abandoned tennis as some of the players are below 18. But unless two of them meet each other its not gonna be "a majority". But the regulator will not answered this until after the summer was their reply. Now GIG cancelled all their sport brands in Sweden temporarily due to the confusion this caused.

From what I've been told by reps in the industry, the Swedish gambling authority is a real joke and useless at communicating things properly which is causing a lot of confusion and extra costs. Seems they've being run by incompetent people who know nothing about the industry really.

Couldn't agree more. We have been trying to get answers from them for a long time re non licensed bookies. When they contradicted themselves in several emails we asked for a clarification and was told "this matter is finished". So we turned to the IRS and are waiting for a response there. So, yes, it's been dealt with very poorly so far, which Im sure the bookies will confirm too.
