Hi all,

"The Curaçao government will tighten the supervision of online casinos operating from the island. The already existing Gaming Control Board (GCB), which now oversees the physical casinos only, will also supervise the online gambling sector.

Thanks to a shadowy trade in sub-licenses, the web casinos have been able to operate unhindered in recent years. Many operators hide behind a web of companies located in exotic locations and have their activities run in Curaçao by a local trust office.
...
The sector is also giving the country of Curaçao a bad name: many providers have the impression that they only pay a minimum percentage of the deposit as prize money. Regularly international warnings are given for gambling sites operating under Curaçao license. The Gaming Control Board must put an end to the abuses."

being one of the worst licensors Curacao definitely needs to tighten their process. Especially knowing how many rogue and casinos with pirated games use their license or even worse those sub-licensors .

Still not holding my breath

It makes no sense anyway a Curacao license. It's not valid anywhere, not even in Curacao. More and more countries are regulating, so casinos are needing less and less a .com-license.

Most decent operations already moved out from Curacao to Malta. What remained there are 99% scammers, clip joints, crypto crap, black market casinos or game servers to run rigged games or 84% versions of Book of Dead.

I don't see any decent operations moving to Curacao if they improve their framework and enforcement there. (Even Malta will have a tough time with all those European countries regulating.) And if Curacao does, 99,9% of their "licensed" casinos will not have a license anymore.

Nice to see the introduction of a more controlled licensing environment. The way the situation is right now, it's more of a drawback to be licensed in Curacao rather than a pro.

Well overdue. Glad to see that they are at least trying to improve the situation.

would it really have an impact? is it not perhaps too late to try to regain trust and authority... especially when more and more countries are making local licensees a requirement

Its definitely better then what they are doing currently, the impact wont be huge but speaking on behalf of our site which handles complaints and disputes, it might lesson the load and assist us in getting things resolved more quickly. This is optimistic thinking of course, I will report back in several months;)
