lol, okay I'll make it more brief
Does anyone agree that html5 is the way to go forward because it will work on smart phones, tablets, and lap/desktop web browsers?
Also do you see the steady trend to 'personal communications devices' as almost full circle? The 'new media' is everywhere now much like radio ads, billboards, etc in the past. And if so are there 'old style' marketing techniques that can/shold be used because of this?
As invasive as social media has become I still don't think it is toddling as far as where it will go - i think there is a new paradigm gelling in the ethers but i just can't fathom it yet.
Fairly related - is this going to change anyone's game plan or is it not relevant to your marketing? http://www.insidefacebook.com/2011/08/24/ad-guidelines-gambling-lotteries-dietary-supplements/

Ads that promote or facilitate online gambling, games of skill or lotteries, including online casino, sports books, bingo, or poker, are only allowed in specific countries with prior authorization from Facebook.

I'm kind of an old timer to the marketing game. Can't really put my finger on why I chose long ago to not do affiliate marketing, I'm sure i could have made scads of cash. it's all good.
I sold advertising in the 70's and 80's and I have a fair handle on internet marketing being one of the pioneers creating pages within months of graphical browsers and having to wrest business away from compuserve and Mozaic to get my sites published for IE (because that was my chosen venue). We had alta vista then, there was no google but you still had to make your pages show up, ya know? lol
A lot has changed since then and I'm thinking of developing again with the html5 possibilities.
I read a thread here awhile back, i think it was Andy asking what people are doing in re tablet marketing. I think if i were to develop i would focus primarily on html5 but i have to admit that i'm not sure.
I bailed before C++, and visual basic always gave me jitters so i never touched php and always found the current database interfaces (what is it mysql?) brain-effing and a pain in the ass (klunky and you have to bend to its ways) but i digress.
There must be 550,kajillion online casino pages out there
(nope only ~

So that is achievable! lol
I'll go study some and form a question, but for now I'm really curious about old style marketing (be it mad avenue, what you learned in school, what works outside the virtual world, etc.) and how that is working and evolving with what has to be looked at as something MORE than internet marketing now with the advent of "personal communications devices".
Any thoughts?
