The U.S. commercial gaming sector achieved a record $17.71 billion in Q3 2024, marking the highest third-quarter revenue and continuing 15 consecutive quarters of year-over-year growth, according to the AGA. Total revenue for the first nine months reached $53.24 billion, an 8% increase from 2023. Online gaming and sports betting drove growth, with $5.14 billion generated in Q3, accounting for 29% of total revenue. Traditional gaming, though slightly down, remains the industry’s backbone. Legal sports betting soared by 42.4%, fueled by new markets. Gaming contributed $3.79 billion in taxes, underscoring its economic significance across 37 states and D.C.
