The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC), responsible for regulating the gambling industry, has learned of online betting providers engaging in sponsorship agreements with sports clubs to incentivize club members to create accounts, potentially violating Section 4.7.10 of the Gambling Regulation Act 2003. VGCCC urges betting services to cease such practices, citing legal violations and harm minimization concerns.

VGCCC also oversees casino licensing and the social license of gambling operators, cautioning sports clubs against promoting gambling among their members. The VGCCC, distinct from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, focuses solely on gambling regulation and harm reduction.
