There was a bit of chat going on with Aussie players in the Video Slots freeroll battles Friday/Saturday. The catalyst was that VS had blocked all AU IP's, from playing real wagers.

After digging around a bit, I found the following over at the CM Forum:

Hi guys,

We recently got contacted by the Australian government and they requested us to make sure no players are able to play while being in Australia. Due to their request, we made some updates to our IP controller, to make sure no traffic from any nationality can deposit or play with us from an Australian IP. You will still be able to withdraw from an Australian IP.

Your account will remain open and you will be able to continue to play when you log in from another location.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Br,
Daniel.

Hello jimbler,

We do not stop our players from using a VPN.

Br,
Daniel.

I'm not sure, if the AU Gov., will be able to do anything about the following, but it seems to contradict player T&C's, along with their ToS etc. It's one thing for VS to state "players can login using a VPN", but that would create a nightmare IMO.

Lets say an AU player uses a VPN with a UK IP. What's to stop them playing banned games. And, if they are able to play banned games, what's the ramification of this, for the game provider, not to mention the TAX which would/should be garnished from UK IP play... IDK it all seems very covert and dodgy.

Edit:
NB - there were no email notifications sent. Players reported they'd received their cashback, but were unable to wager. And, when they contacted support, they were only informed about this news, then (after AU IP's had been blocked). Some AU players reported they were however, able to deposit, but when they couldn't play, contacted support, to be told the disappointing news...(this was discussed in chat on the freerolls, which I was privy to).

Exactly the same MO happened when VS could no longer send withdrawals to Visa. No notification, nothing. Deposits continued to be accept via Visa, but when one went to withdrawal, the only options available were BTC or Entropay.
