And again, I got an e-mail from an online casino today
subject - Reward for the loyal gamer...

More and more are now using gaming or gamer, instead gambling.
Why is that? What is the reason behind it?
Does it just look or sound better to be a gamer?
Gamer and gambler is a diffrence for me.

I see also websites are now more targeting keywords like gaming.
I don't know, but is it not that we get then useless traffic?
I mean a gamer, someone who loves to play video games, playstation or xbox
is not the same like someone who loves to risk money in a casino.
Just my 2 cents.

What is your opinion?

I've never tried those keywords, but I can't imagine they work very well. I'll stick with terms I know gamblers use, not 'gamers'.

I guess everything is worth a shot, though. Maybe some people are finding that it does convert?

It has been referred to as online gaming for many years.
Especially by big companies / listed companies.
It sounds more classy than gambling :)

Definitely sounds more classy :) However - I would be surprised if that is what 'potential clients' are searching for.

Agree, I think somebody who is looking to play in an online casino will not search for gaming.

We had this discussion on my forum, here is the link ( if I am not allowed to post it , please remove it and accept my appology)

Gaming is Gambling , Gamer is Gambler !?

For quite some time, the industry has been trying to move towards marketing casino games as an entertainment, rather than a way to make money

Hence the term gaming is becoming more and more popular

Interestingly, there was some data published recently stating that women are far more likely to search for the term 'gambling', than men are - I can't remember where I read that, but thought it was worth noting...

Gaming is a more ample definition than gambling. Gambling is to play a game of chance for stakes.

Gaming includes games of skill as well as sports and others. That is why we have igamingbusiness and other such sites.

I'd imagine it isn't the best term to target, but you never know unless you actually have access to the performance stats of such traffic :)

I think that from the outside gaming looks better than gambling. I also think that gaming encompasses all aspects of the industry from Casino to sports betting. I would rather tell general people that I have an Online Gaming site than a gambling website. Gambling implies you may lose money! :)

If you received this in an email (which you said it was) I would say it was used to get around the spam filters...
