Will Google Really Break Up?

Yesterday a judge ruled that Google is a monopoly. Obviously they will appeal this. In the long term, what do you think this will change with search? Will Bing, Yahoo get a larger market share?

In my opinion what makes Google really a monopoly is that their results were always very good. That is all what a search engine is about. However this changed last 2 months, in our industry is very visible were all not relative websites rank for casino keywords.
It does not matter what a court or a judge say, if the product is the best, people will keep using it. If Google decides to keep their current tactic, they will lose their audience anyway.

Their search quality has been bad for longer than 2 months. The results are filled with spam even in the AIO. You will find Indian websites when you do a local search. It is terrible.

Yes i agree, this thing with these websites was always there. But after some core updates they were gone and then new ones popup and it was like an endless circle.
After last core update tho, not only these websites rank, but also big news websites like outlook india etc. This has happened also 1 year ago and then they went downhill, now they are up again.
I even see websites from other industries rank for casino keywords, it's hilarious. So Google decided that if a website has big domain rating can rank for EVERYTHING.

By that logic, we can create pages for cars, houses and all things that are not related to our industry. If we have big domain rating and lots of backlinks we will rank. But imagine a casino website rank for other things, how does that look on search engine? Terrible right?

Agreed, it started last September when the HCU took place.

A lot of this was cleared up by the Parasite algo on May 5, 2024. However, I still see a lot of parasite sites on Google.

It's uncertain, but there's ongoing pressure from regulators to break up Google due to antitrust concerns. Whether it actually happens remains to be seen.
