Windows 11 - updated so far so good

I've been ummimg and arring whether to upgrade to Win 11 for a while now. My previous PC was compatible. However since getting a custom rig with a liquid cooled 13'th gen i9, 4080 RTX gpu and 32 gig 6400 corsair DDR5 ram, etc., etc, manking the changed seem to make more sense.

Anyway, I did that today.

I was really concerned about software compatiblities, given I still have a couple of older Adobe web dev products. However, as far as I can tell, everything is fine and dandy.

TBH the interface is much nicer.

I don't like change

I bought a new second laptop in 2019, and for the last few years I have been turning down the option to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11.
My wife has a Windows 11 machine... and I guess it's not that much different.

But I still mainly use my 10-year-old Windows 10 laptop for most things - and I'm still using MS Office 2010 for all my Word & Excel work!
I struggle with the modern version of Excel - so rarely use it.

Have another i7 PC running Win 10, and an i7 laptop from 2014, running XP. So I'm kinda covered for just about any software scenario should it arise. I'm not a fan of change, either.

Like yourself I too use software which is well past its EOL. EG - Macromedia Fireworks and Adobe Dreamweaver 8. Both serve a great purchase, which, I have not been able to replicate. They do the job, well, without too many bells, whistles and other bloat, which, seems to be present on today's software.

Had time to fool around with Win 11 settings and such, a nicer feel. It's definitely a faster OS.

Windows 10 and 11 are like photoframes compaired to what windows used to be.

On xp, max connections set to 10x, boosted the internet connection to it's max and notepad had no extra functions like it has today. Also, multitasking is quite hard if the programs used are not tweaked in regedit to allow been opend in separate windows.

I got a new gaminglaptop - dedicated to use for graphics that is topnotch a few months back with win 11. This sucks big time, since this is the only machine I can not even install Xara at!
For the past 15 years, I have used Xara xtreme / photoeditor with a 70€ lifetime license on 20+ computers without any problems but this time, can not install it at all without needing to concider to get a new version with a monthly fee.

Really a pain in the as, since I basicly do not need any fancy functions on a new software that I can use fast and that i am an expert on!

Also, multitasking by using the same program wants me to bring out the hammer and smash the laptop out of this world!
For example, Core FTP Lite open with 20x sites at the same time, but theyr all stuck in one tab instead of grouped side by side. I know there is some solutions for this but they all come with other tweaks I do not want.

I dream of having max connections set to 10x, to get faster browsing speed, notepad in it's original simplesity and no tabs but just group them side by side when open.

Also the real shutdown function would be much better than the "allways on" thing that results in empty batteries if just having the laptop in a closet for a longer period.

I miss XP tbh! Every since Vista came out, everything seems to be about look how fancy thease images are instead of having a heavy - hardcore machine to actually work with!

AMD Ryzen 7, Pentium i5,i7 and a bunch of older machines that still to this date, beats the new laptops in stores out like they sell trash only!

It's almost like cars: the newer car, the less you can do any work on it your self.
