Gab I am arguing with you, I'm not afraid to call a spade a spade. Your general recommendation that "You would rather be looking for a cheap Asia based SEO who will do a decent job rather than those dodgy links" is dangerous advice to new members of this forum who come here seeking advice.

If you have an Asian contact that offers a good SEO service then you should rather provide their contact information to those who seek it. But, such information coming from a new member, like you, may not be seen as very trustworthy.

It's strange how some new members are always attracted to SEO posts. ;)

Thanks for the offer of a drink but I won't make it.

Daft you can argue but my recommendation stands as it is. There are so many cheap and excellent SEO specialists out there. It is a matter of finding the right one not anyone.

Happy to share contacts with whoever needs them.

New member or not we are all here to express our experience and opinion. So take it or leave it. And also new here does not mean new there. :)

I've looked into it. Looks like about 10k/month for anything resembling decent. Even then, seems tough to work out.
that seems very pricey for something that is hard to monitor. I guess you would pay in installments?

I wish I had an answer for you but my link skills are 0, I wish I knew how to get links myself. Those packages in my opinion may not be the way to go, I dont trust them and worry they may do more harm than good. Do webmasters actually sell links that are worth the price and what is you guarantee they wont be removed? Or is there none?

Oh I beg to differ, I think link building a price. It may be higher then one would pay, but it has a price tag I'm sure.

Best advice I've seen on any forum regarding purching links or a link building service. When people need a good plummer, everyone jumps in "Hey, I got the best plummer, doctor, barber" lol, but I have yet to see that here. Great advice DraftDog.

On fiverr you CAN find some quality backlinks. But they are not for 20$ :)
who did you use on Fiver because I checked them out and it didnt seem like the links were going to be coming from any gambling sites.

As many have stated, purchasing links is very risky!

I do, however, purchase services such as having my web 2.0 properties created.. and then I log in and post content there every once in a while.

In my opinion, you should do SEO in the most natural way. Google every day is smart, if you intentionally buy links for SEO purposes, it will not be good.
But how is "natural" defined? Only concerning context? It should match the way Google conceived the ranking algorithms, about which no one knows precisely how they work.

Good definition. I would add "writing without any SEO concern", but it's a bit idealistic. No one would do that. Still, writing naturally and buying links are not inconsistent to each other.

I believe that developing a website is a huge job. I have nothing against paid links on sites that are really worth it, but if you buy a whole list for $199 it can hurt a lot. For example, you will fall under the filter, or after updating Google, your traffic will drop a lot. And why are you posting links anyway? Wasn't it to get people interested and they walked over it? Otherwise, I don't see the point.
