I've been without salary and invested over $15K in Playersbay.com over the last 6 months, so although I can not make a donation I will buy a 3 month sponsorship.

I want this sponsorship to start in February (when PlayersBay V2 is ready) but will pay upfront now to make this server a reality sooner.

Wow... that was only a weekend - we need a thermometer or a yard stick or something to mark our progress. We all give what we feel comfortable with. No amount is too small. $5, $10, it all adds up in the end! It works when we all work together - we will get AGD this server!!! Some months I might not have a dime to spare, so no one should feel bad about not having $ to spare this month.

I know personally I was destroyed in December by non-paying affiliate programs and very oddly (2) programs saying I made zero when I normally make thousands from them...

Common 2010, lets see a new server and some better stats for affiliates!

I know there are like 10 programs that still owe us for Dec and like you said no amount is too small and don't feel like you have to post what amount you have helped with you can pm that info to the affiliates that offered to match the donations.;D

Just wanted to say that sponsorship money at AGD is used for site development, not for the server.

So although I will sponsor this does decrease the need for further donations!

This is true... site sponsorships have always gone towards further coding on AGD. You may be surprised how much this costs, but you will see the fruits of that in the not too distant future!

Good choice Andy the Dell’s T710 for the cost is a very good buy. Dell offers plenty room for expansion, mods, and good support, worth every dime IMO. I noticed some are on sale but you would have to upgrade some options.

Soon as possible I will contribute something.

Compared to the time, effort and personal funds Andy has spent on making these terms alerts and analyses possible, anything we can possibly contribute pales.

I have never before met anyone in this industry with such devotion to a service that is not profitable and likely will never be so.

Not to derail this thread and I will hit paypal as soon as I am done but why do you have to buy a server?Why should I buy a server?I want to learn something here if i can and i know Andy is some tech genuis We have 4 servers and we get them from different places such as iweb.ca and theplanet.com .We own a blog hosting website with 19000 members and we run it on a $149 a month server plan.Won't you have to pay rack fees for it as well?I was looking at buying my own server last year and my server admin gave me the pros and cons and he convinced me we are better this way.He is MY employee and don't work for any companies ,just wondering if I should look at this myself.

There are several reasons to buy a server, but it really all depends upon if you can manage it. If you have the right host with the proper trust factor, you can certainly host and be just fine.

With the applications that AGD currently has and the ones that are coming, the memory requirements and CPU requirements are really for a dedicated. The cost of a dedicated with the amount of RAM and CPU power is just too much for a hosted solution.

This is why I began looking into servers for AGD. There are some other advantages as well, but that is the main reason
