When it comes to charity events IMO the means justifies the end. The sexual undertones, midget displays, crystal meth, crack heads, pot smoking boozers, is hardly the atmosphere I would like donate to charity. Never mind hardly a place to get some real business done.

Mr. Calvin publicly stunts certainly would fair better at the circus circuit. But the world is not perfect either so whatever... Money will always override any ethical sense.

If it were a private party, we wouldn't be talking about it. It was a publicity stunt, staged at a "supposed" industry conference.

I'd point out that these events DO NOT REPRESENT affiliates. They are places for affiliate programs to wine and dine affiliates and hopefully get on our sites. It's just a fishing expedition. Do you honestly think these events are put together mostly to inform and educate us? NOT SO! These are "live" banners trying to attract us to affiliate programs using devices such as booze, scantly clad women, etc. They add in a few SEO type things to cloud the atmosphere of whats really going on.

Picking on a particular type of people (making a mockery) is just not good form anywhere around an industry event. To me the party picked on minorities and at the very least made fun of an entire group of people. Check history and you will find out that when private jokes become public they are scrutinized by the press!

The next party looks totally pathetic. By the way the last time a haunted house scared me was when I was about five.

HINT TO NEW AFFILIATES: If you want to go to a conference to learn, not be swarmed by affiliate managers, etc, I suggest going to an SEO or webmaster conference. By far more enlightening.

How do you really know who was there and who wasn't...;)

You might want to ask the "Calvin Fan Club" that question....

Like I said: "Most will not even get the point I am trying to make here anyway"

I never said I know everyone that was and wasn't there. But some people have posted or said that they were there or not. I'm sure you knew that though.

I might want to ask the "Calvin Fan Club"? Can you not speak so cryptic. I'm blonde and I'm not understanding you. Who is the Calvin Fan Club?

I'm sorry if I'm not getting your point. I guess I'm a little slow sometimes.

What happened Guru, how come you changed your occupation without performing for us first?

Haha hehe Dom, I actually gave that career up a long time ago for the much more respectable and professional arena of "affiliate marketing"! ;D

The non-funny part is that I really don't think the type of parties (Death?) are going to be good for the industry, which desperately needs to look professional and respectable.

I don't consider myself a prude, far from it.
However I agree with Dominique and others on the basis of professionalism and why this last party in Prague and the Death Party are a bad idea.

Whether you think these are kill joy comments or not. Our industry is at a time when shit like this ain't doing it any favours. France is the latest Country to pull the pin. Who's next?

If Calvin has a thing for midgets or cutting heads of pigs, go do it in private. I couldn't see Lloyd Williams; Rupert Murdock or Richard Branson throwing parties like this, hell their stocks would fall over night.

For some reason, most people think it's ok for our industry to act like this

Publicity stunt or not, this is the sort of BS that will turn Governments against OUR industry. Which in turn affects everyone's livelihoods. Unfortunately we're not all billionaires.

Cheers

Dave

I would like to ask Andy to delete my membership here.

I have deleted my membership at forums where I feel conferences get in the way of business.

Thank you and good luck everyone.

I have asked for my membership to be removed here. I have asked for Bodog Becky to contribute to a charitable contribution instead of the bodog party.

I have gotten NO response. I asked Andy to remove me. No Response. Rude. You need to respect my request.

There is a complete lack of respect for affiliates here. Unless you are in the 'clique' . I don't want to be a part of that in any way.

I ask AGAIN to REMOVE my membership at AGD. I have never seen such a lack of respect for a member. Including Steve, the CPA. Let's make fun of him too! Haha funny. NOT!

Remove me! Otherwise it is sad I will have to file a complaint.

Hey Mojo,

I'm sorry you feel disrespected. Since I was posting in this thread somewhat, I hope you don't feel disrespected by me in any way. And I'm definitely not in any 'clique'. I don't always choose the best words to express myself, but I certainly didn't mean anything disrespectful to you or anyone. I just wasn't grasping your point at first.

I didn't really understand your comment about the CPA. I guess I missed something there.

I wish everyone could just all get along, and just accept that some things we all might not always agree on.... and that's ok.

Not at all Daera. I appreciate your posts and POV. I just feel the need to be aggresive because my request was not honored.

I just want to go on my merry way. Taking a page from bryan at Cm not to join any more forums.

Again, best of luck to everyone and hopefully my membership will be removed now.

ps..stevecpa was another member here who just resigned as well.

Ahh, I didn't know he recently left. I knew who he was, but I guess I missed his posts that led to him leaving.

jeez... it was a mistake :( I had forgotten all about this. Sorry anyone felt disrespected, that was not the intention.

As for The_CPA, I don't know anything about him wanting off AGD. I'll have to ask him myself.

Mojo - I set you as 'banned' because that is the only way I know how to do it. Hope that doesn't bother you too.

I don't really understand either - I tought this was a fairly level discussion with different people contributing different views.

Isn't that what message boards are all about, different views being presented so all can make up their own minds?

And I have no idea what may have happened with CPA...

As for your request not being honored, Andy just got back from a long needed vacation, he has a full time job in addition to this, plus baby duty, you know. Sticking strictly to the rule of impartiality concerning programs requires people to donate lots of time to keep things running. People with two workloads ( one to support your family and one to volunteer for many hours every day) do burn out and need to take a breather.

That's why the vast majority of volunteer organizations do fail, because the volunteers burn out.

We don't want to see that happening here... so please do have some patience. There is no one being paid to be on the job and there is no customer service - there are no customers and there is no profit, just people helping people when they can and as best they can.

I think the CPA being discussed is actually Steve S., who is an actual CPA -- not the poster known as "The_CPA," which stands for the Casino Player's Advocate.

Mojo, I'm also sorry that you feel disrespected here. :( Best of luck to you.

OH!! Thanks Engineer. Now that I wouldn't have known had you not have said so. I thought there was only one CPA/The_CPA.

I'm glad you clarified that. I hate getting people confused like that.
