Sure money is not an issue

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Apparently Mr C is a bit of miser when in comes to opening his wallet. Ironically, it's probably why the forum is in this current down-state, due to him being a tight ass :D

was wondering whats going on. Hope they get their assets back online asap... We know too well what is like to be under constant attacks by shady casinos/competition.

the highlighted bit of what you really gets my goat and really winds me up that there are even people out there that would do stuff like that against competitors. when i was in my pomp and ranked for some serious keywords i would never even dream of trying to hurt my competitors, i just looked at doing my thing to my sites to out rank them. even to the point i really admired david archer when he had freebets com as he really did produce a good site. even had 1 poster message me to tell me i was under a negative seo attack with bad links and someone else even ran a report for me to help me find them all. that's how it should be. so admire your competition, strive to produce a better site but don't be a cock and try to ruin their work

@AidanLCFC - back then most affiliates (even though in direct competition with each other) tended to know each other, or at least, know of each other. Either way, most affiliates helped each other out. Problem these days, with affiliates not needing any coding skills etc., etc., its opened the flood gates to all and sundry. Especially those who have no ethics.

Welcome to the new members:)

Its not fun dealing with these sort of attacks and security breaches, I wish the GPWA team the best of luck. Hopefully they will be back in action soon!

I'm not a techie either but wouldn't deleting the entire hosting account, recreating a new one and uploading all the files and database from the last healthy backup solve the issue if the site has been corrupted by ransomware?

i would assume such a big company has a differential backup so that they can restore different versions.
if not... that should be something to work on for the future.

I spoke to Michael yesterday they are still in crisis mode but moving forward .To be honest seeing this happen to them motivated us to go through all our sites and check for any vulnerable plug ins etc. Our sites run independent of each other and I have 3 dedicated servers .I am glad i still have alot of old manually edited html sites for times like this :)

Maybe the backup is encrypted too.

I'm assuming that there are no recent backups stored offline. Note to affiliates, "always have at least one recent backup of your site stored offline just incase."

For those using wordpress, blogvault is an excellent backup service that has saved my site many times over.

There is a vbulletin exploit out for over a month.
Comodo forums were attacked.
It now seems that blackhatworld is also down.

Search google for this.

The exploit was stolen from the National Security Agency files, and privately shared for up to 3 years for a price, before someone publicly posted it late September.

CloudFlare and Vbulletin have both already released the patch for it.

GPWA guys need to call up CloudFlare, and spend some money to get their network back up.

Ok interesting question with the forum being up the wall, as I know a lot of us do have signature links has anyone noticed any negative movements in the rankings?

Be nice to know if they are actually worth having.

they'll be no effects whatsoever mate, forum links are practically pointless, especially with the spam moron on there all the time.
