Today we received an email from some dickhead trying to sell a database of affiliate contact details. No doubt many of you probably have seen the same email.
As part of the email they have included some screenshots of a sample of the database. The information in the screenshots, which included affiliate ids, sign up dates, and deal percentage, was enough for a friend and I to work out that the data we could see has come from LuckyBet Affiliates.
It looks like the program is marked as closed here but both the LuckyBet site and the affiliate site are still up so who knows if they really are closed. I don't know because I've never had an account with them. The fact I still received this email suggests that there may be other sources mixed in with the data.
Anyway if you are/were an affiliate of theirs, know that your private contact details have either been sold or stolen and are being shopped around by a piece of scum who names him/herself Bahis Ortamix. This means "Betting Environment" in Turkish which leads me to believe that they are associated with a Turkish sports betting forum of the same name which comes up when you Google the name.
So there you go. More proof of what we all know these affiliate programs do, even though none of them will admit to it. Our private information is regularly sold, traded or stolen and passed on to whoever is willing to pay.
