Not sure where this is coming from but it easy to get a bank account in the US or are you talking about an offshore account?
Was a few years ago, when a friend told me that many people in US do not have a bank account, they would not care much about?
People get their salary weekly with a check and can cash this at banks even they have no bank account?

Good to read from others here now that it is not so
Already thought, "how can that be?"

I would say 90% or more of people in the US have bank accounts.. Unless you got yours closed down because you lost your job and are really struggling.. You can cash a check without one, but it isn't easy. You usually have to pay a fee and such. But yes, most people here have bank accounts... I don't know anyone without one.

That does depend. I live in an area where there are more and more non-citizen workers (Mexican, mostly). Many do not have bank accounts, just cash their checks into money. Still, with that said... I would be 90% is about right.

I wasn't sure where Bonus heard that. You can establish a bank account in the US with a mere $10 deposit. Banks do access central databases (Chexsystems is one such database) to see if you have a history of writing bad checks but other than that there isn't much to it.

There is a small segment of the population that does not have a checking account, my guess is these are either illegals or those that habitually write bad checks.

Anyone can go to the bank the check is issued from and they'll cash it without having an account there or anywhere for that matter. I've done it before with checks people gave me.

I've also see people at the super market customer service cashing their (pay) checks.

After having my latest e-mail to Neteller ignored for 3 days, I decided to ring them today.

They have confirmed that it is true: UK residents are now totally blocked from making any transactions (in or out) with gaming companies which are not UK Licensed.

I have to say, I'm very surprised there's not more noise about this on the forums - this is a VERY big issue for UK players & Affiliates.
It's going to be a total pain in the arse for me, mainly because I will have to switch from using Neteller to Bank Wire, which in many cases will mean a much higher payment threshold

True that KK

Higher threshold, wrong info, more delays. For me it was a nightmare. Not to mention the fees !

I think it quiet on the forums cuz USA affiliate had to deal with this issue about 9 years ago.

Changing from one wallet to another is common and happens all the time. When changing from Neteller to wire it sucks. Each program always asks for different info and for me always led to delays.

The mins jump way up compared to wallets. Like Neteller where you may get 4 or 5 small payments for $100 each you lose the cash flow. Then you have to reach the $500 to $1k mins for wires but if your doing that with 5-10 or 20 programs its very costly. For me wires cost me about $65 to $80 per.

All this leads me to another question. Who is responsible for payment options? Should programs find more options to pay affiliates or do affiliates need to find more ways to be paid?

I think that most affiliates have been using bankwire - and UK players and affiliates have been moving towards promoting / playing at UK licensed programs recently.
So it's an issue - but not that big.

I don't get any wires these days.

I have received payment this month to my Neteller account from Pantasia.com Rival payment processing branch, and as a non-UK reaident I had just withdrawn the funds. All went without problems. I am not sure where Pantasia.com is licensed though.

Yes, if you are NOT in the UK you can still use Neteller - it's only affiliates who DO live in the UK who are affected.

Well I really don't know what is going on now

Already had 2 payments this month from non-UK licensed operators (Rival & Genesys), to add to a couple of other operator's payments I've had over the last few months...
Looks like Neteller have changed their minds...???

Anyone know anything about this?

I suspect that much like the bankwires situation - companies can pose as non-gambling entities and make payments.
There is nothing intrinsic in the transaction data that shouts NON-UK GAMBLING so it's possible to slip under the radar with generic details.
Very good point.. I have had a paypal payment or two in the past.. We all know how rules get bent..
