How AI Chats (ChatGPT and Others) Are Used to Promote iGaming Products: Theoretical Examples and Methods

In early 2024, reports surfaced of coordinated attempts by countries like Russia, China, and Israel to influence large language models (LLMs), including ChatGPT.
These campaigns involved mass queries, manipulative wording, and upvoting favorable responses.
The goal was to shape the tone and focus of AI-generated content on sensitive topics — from conflicts to political narratives.
These same methods can theoretically be adapted to promote commercial products, including iGaming brands.

What Happens When AI Learns from Behavioral Patterns​

Models like ChatGPT generate responses based on billions of text inputs and user feedback signals.
The more frequently the model encounters specific phrases, structures, or topics, the more likely it is to interpret those patterns as “natural” and reproduce them in future sessions.
This creates a vulnerability to manipulation: if a group of users consistently interacts with the model following a scripted plan, it could influence the model’s future behavior.

How This Could Be Applied to iGaming (Theoretical Case: BetX)​

Let’s take a hypothetical iGaming brand — BetX. In theory, the brand’s team could use methods similar to those employed in political influence campaigns to promote the brand through AI responses. Here’s how it could work:

Level 1 – Mass Queries

Hundreds of accounts (or API access) submit frequent questions such as:​

“How does BetX’s interface compare to other operators?”
“Which bookmakers offer fast payouts and flexible limits in 2025?”

Level 2 – Comparison Scenarios

Queries are framed to trigger brand comparisons — subtly biased in favor of the brand:

“What advantages does BetX have over other live betting platforms?”

Level 3 – Prompting Key Traits

Prompts are written to reinforce specific associations:
“BetX stands for innovation, reliability, and personalized bonuses. What other brands meet those standards?”
“Are platforms like BetX — where winning players aren’t banned — becoming the norm?”

Level 4 – Feedback Loop and Rating Responses

Participants in the campaign upvote responses that mention BetX positively and report or downvote neutral or negative mentions. This feedback feeds into the model’s reinforcement learning system and could impact future outputs.

How AI Chats Are Defending Themselves​

AI developers have already implemented tools to detect such anomalies. Suspicious patterns — like a sudden surge in branded queries, repetitive phrasing, and unusually high approval ratings — are flagged. IP addresses, session behavior, and query submission speed are also monitored.
However, sophisticated setups involving tens of thousands of accounts spread across time zones and geographies can remain undetected. This makes AI-based promotion a potentially powerful tool for experienced iGaming affiliate teams or marketers.

A New Arena of Competition: Fighting for AI Visibility​

When users ask ChatGPT, “Which bookmakers are good for beginners?” — the way the answer is framed can directly influence clicks and brand awareness. If one operator learns to influence the model’s tone and another doesn’t, the competitive edge becomes clear.


That’s why fighting for presence inside language models is becoming the next frontier in iGaming marketing.
