Thailand is advancing towards legalizing casinos, with a draft law on entertainment complexes expected to reach the cabinet by year-end, according to Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat. The bill aims to regulate casino resorts and will be reviewed by parliament starting mid-December 2024. It recently gained 82% public support, highlighting significant backing for its implementation. The proposed resorts could boost tourism by 5-20% and create numerous jobs. Recommendations from a public hearing include renaming the bill to "Integrated Resort Act" and adjusting ownership structures. The draft law aims to position Thailand as a key player in the global entertainment industry.
