Some sites don't have very many links, but rank incredibly well. In that type of case, I guess the site either has very powerful backlinks, or possibly a 301 redirect from another site with a lot of backlinks. A 301 redirect can't be detected when your checking a site's backlinks in Yahoo! site explorer.

Hi Casdir,

It's all about the quality of each back link not quantity of them; can make a huge difference if done properly.

EG - A couple of my sites have multiple .gov.au links, whilst they are not directly associated to my slots niche, they do target the gaming industry. These type of backlinks are high valuable. Obtain these type of 1wbl and you don't need too many to climb the serps - especially when pointing back to aged domains who have built Google authority ;)

So glad that thread was revived - great reading everyone's stories :)

As for protecting oneself from being shafted, work with reputable programs. I have worked on the operator side for nearly 7 years and seen it all.

The reputable ones don't seem to get the number of affiliates/players than the slightly less reputable ones did - amazing.

That's because it becomes harder and harder for affiliates to distinguish reputable from disreputable. I have had my share of surprises when places that are old, established, proven and have worked with me for years, even a decade, suddenly turn out to be totally corrupt.

A lot of the older ones get caught with their fingers in the cookie jar these days, and the new ones - it's just so hard to tell what they are like and whether they will make it.

To me, it just seems more and more difficult to seperate the chaff from the grain.

I believe that it's in no ones interested to be easy to star making money with affiliating. Why? It's sort of protection, to everyone that's in the industry already, that someone who has no passion or interest in what we are doing enters, puts out a low value website and starts making tons of money on day 3.

This would only make this field more desirable and flooded with schmucks. Therefore it makes me actually happy to see that it requires years before you start getting what you desire. For me it took about year and a half to find and meet the right people and start improving and earning.

Was more of a blogger than an affiliate in the first year, but that helped for building quality content, so it was not waste of time. You never waste your time when you are producing quality content. You might not be ready to monetize it, but that's a different story.

I recently met a lot of people in Barcelona, making great amounts of money, most of them were busy people :). So if you find yourself have too much free time, something is wrong. The cost for running site (unless you are a super affiliate) should be quite low, domain and hosting. The rest should be pretty much free.

Also set up small goals. Getting from $500 a month to 100k$ can be a long journey, so start with 500 to 1000 and from 1000 to 2000 etc. Would be much easier to focus, and you will not feel despair <-- something I forget from time to time.

Bottom line, "if you build it, they will come"

Place the cart before the horse doesn't work. After all these years (regardless of alog updates) I'm still a firm believer quality content builds trust with Google. Once your site has this you can then cultivate other areas.

i work it not too long.in my experience,1 new deposit player comes about 200$-250$ affiliate money first month average(bet365 30% share) from casino, more better than poker in first a few month.
sports bet can give u life long revenue, but comes little by little.
if u r a new affiliate, casino is better to get money but little player than poker or sports bet. and sports bet is stable but the costomer u must have long time to built.
if u have no money, SEO is best. If u have money to work with it, online ad is real worked and fast.

I m new with the casino affiliation, but I am learning fast. What I learn from 2009 ,with a blog sport bet affiliate is that if you have many friends on Facebook,Google+ and Twitter is good for business. Thanks for all the info.

So why don't YOU just start a new thread with a new poll...? ;)

I make about $1000-$2000 per month. And no, not from warez. Uploading warez content isn't the only way to earn money online

Good point - this poll was started in 2009 - a lot of things have changed for a lot of people since then!
If no-one else gets there first, I will start a fresh poll in the next day or 2.

Good idea, a 'How much money do you make PER MONTH? 2013 edition' or something.
